Johnnie Lee Wright was born in Lauderdale, MS August 8, 1944 to the late Willie Lee Wright and Lena McGrew.

Later in life he moved to Flint, Michigan, where he worked for General Motors for 34 ½ years. He was married to Essie Belle Williams in 1976.  After retiring from General Motors, he moved to Decatur, Alabama in 1999.
