Johnnie Encil Hamlet Sr., age 96, passed away Friday, May 8, 2015. He was born October 9, 1918 in Gainesboro, Tennessee to the late Elizabeth and Masco Hamlet. He was a Veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army, last stationed at Fort McPherson in Atlanta, GA. He retired after 30 years with General Motors Corporation, Pontiac Truck and Coach Division in Atlanta, GA. He was a faithful member of Palmetto Baptist Church and was in the Vera Smith Sunday School Class. In addition to his parents, Johnnie is preceded in death by seven brothers; Bruce, Norman, James, Robert, Ben, Pete, and Fred and two sisters, Bonnie and Bessie. He is survived by his loving wife, Ann Ulm Hamlet, children; Johnnie E Hamlet Jr. and wife Susan of Stockbridge, GA, Judy A. Norred and husband Michael of Grantville, GA and Melvin L Hamlet of Peachtree City, GA; grandchildren Stanley G Allison III, Andrew A Allison, Johnnie E Hamlet III, Sherri R Martin, and Stephanie H Herrera; and great grandchildren; Stanley G Allison IV, David M Allison, Johnnie E Hamlet IV, and Elias J Herrera.
