Russell, Johnnie Brooks – Johnnie Brooks Russell passed away Sunday morning, October 25, 2020 at his home, Roswell, NM. Johnnie was born February 22,1958 in Roswell, NM-the first of 10 children born to John B. and Martha P. Russell.
Johnnie is survived by his sons: Jesse Russell of the home, Johnnie Russell of Clovis, NM, Joe Russell of Roswell NM, and daughters Amanda Mcclure and husband Michael, Jennifer and Amanda Lewis of Roswell, Brothers: Lester Russell and wife Patricia of Artesia, NM; Willie Russell and wife Beverly of Roswell, NM, Raymond Russell and wife Sandra of Jal, NM, Michael Russell of the home, Adam Russell and wife Valerie of Levelland, TX., Rodney Russell and Trina Russell of Chickasha, OK., and sister Angela Hobson and husband Aubrey of Artesia, NM. Also his self- proclaimed love of his life-Janet Russell. His grandchildren: Charles, Alisha, Thomas, Christian, William, Jazzy, Shawn, Caleb, and Jacob. Great grandchildren: Emma, Brooklin, and Amanda. Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents John B. and Martha P. Russell, and brothers Gary Russell and Charley Junior Russell.
Johnnie graduated from Goddard High School in 1977. He was a truck-driver for over 50 years and owned J and J Trucking. He loved being a mechanic and was a professional musician most recently with Midnight Radio and the Old School Dance Band. In his later years he was very active in From Forgotten to Forever Animal Rescue in Roswell. He had an extreme love for animals and saved possibly thousands of animals by making countless trips to Denver, Utah and Houston. His kindness will surely be missed. He attended Iglesias Bautista Calvary Baptist Church in Roswell, NM
