John Wuycheck passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, August 23, 2010 at the age of 68. He was born June 17, 1942 in Natrona Heights, PA to Henrietta and John Wuycheck. At the young age of 15, he met and at 19 married his high school sweetheart and wife of almost 49 years, Barbara Pesci. John enjoyed a very successful 30 year career in the trucking and transportation industry where his warm and genuine personality helped him forge deep and lasting bonds with his friends, customers and coworkers. Through the years John and Barbara had the opportunity to travel to places they never dreamed possible and share treasured experiences. However, John’s legacy will be the source of his ultimate pride; his family. John will be remembered as a loving husband, a proud father and a joy filled “Pappap” to his grandchildren. He was at his happiest when he was surrounded by Barbara, his children and grandchildren. Such were the final days of his life. Although he moved away from Pittsburgh and settled in Arizona some 25 years ago, he remained a loyal Steelers fan and could be found regularly rooting for the black and gold. Many remember John for his love of golf, a cold beer, and a good story. He looked forward to his annual Father/Son golf tournaments, his annual Christmas excursions with his daughter and his cherished adventures with his buddies all of which he spoke of often. He is survived by his wife Barbara, children: Laura Venerdi (Bo) and John (Anne) and his grandchildren; Ben, Emma, Michaela, Murphy and Maggie.
The family would like to thank all those friends and caregivers who helped us through this time. John’s faith and his courage were an inspiration to us all.
