Lt. Colonel John William Weinig, III, USAF, Retired, 76, of Newnan passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Insignia Health of Newnan. He was born January 2, 1945 in Cincinnati, OH to the late John W. Weinig, Jr. & Audrey Jean Revenaugh Weinig.
John graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1967 where he honorably served until retiring as a Lt. Colonel in 1987. During his military service as a pilot, he achieved many accolades including the Distinguished Flying Cross with Eight Oak Leaf Clusters for his service in Vietnam. John was also a commercial pilot with Delta Airlines where he retired after many years of service. He was a devoted member of Heatherwood Baptist Church in Newnan.
