Dr. John Wesley Kenney was born November 10, 1926 in San Antonio, Texas to the late Dr. Nat M. Kenney and Mary Patterson of Pennsylvania. He passed peacefully on Friday, August 13, 2021 at the age of 94.
After graduating from Jefferson High School, John enlisted in the Navy and was sent to Pensacola, Florida. He followed in his father’s footsteps and began his career in medicine. He attended the University of Texas Austin and graduated from University of Texas Galveston Medical School. He resided in Boerne, Texas and was in private practice (family medicine) in San Antonio for forty-four years.
John, his brother William, and his nephew John Griffith spent many hours chasing sheep and cows and fixing fences in Kendall County. John loved the outdoors and was able to hunt in various states. He never got that big Dall sheep that he pursued but he did get his moose in Alaska where his older brother Nat lived.
He is survived by his wife Maxine; his daughter, Cynthia Ann Schleyer (Christian) and their two children Edmond and Grey; his son, John Wesley Kenney V of Bozeman, Montana; his sister, Elizabeth Ann Kenney; his brother, William Patterson Kenney; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
