Homegoing Celebration for Mr. John Wesley Gill Jr.
John Wesley Gill, Jr. aka “Lil Wesley” was born October 1, 1962 in Morgan County. He was preceded in death by his father, John Wesley Gill, Sr.; his grandparents, Henry and Annie Lee Malone, Coease Spraggins and Scott Gill.
As a child he attended Mooresville-Belle Mina Elementary/Junior High, and later attended Tanner High School. He was a graduate of Tanner High Class of 1980, where he was a member of the Honor Society, Junior/Senior Beta Club, MAO Math Club, and Junior/Senior Marching Band. He graduated from Calhoun Community College in 1982 and Tennessee Valley College with a degree in Accounting in 1984.
John was a member of New Heaven C.P Church in America. He confessed hope in Christ at an early age, under the leadership of the Rev. Henry Pendleton. He later rededicated his life to Christ in August 2008 under the leadership of Pastor Dora Sharp.
John worked as a manager for Taco Bell for 12 years. He later was employed with Shelby-Wiregrass and Reed Construction.
His memory will be cherished always by a loving and devoted mother, Lucy Pearl Gill; sister, LeeAnn Gill Goode and a brother, Fredrick Gill, both of Belle Mina, AL; six aunts, Armelia Montgomery (Puter) of Athens, AL, Jean Smith and Linda Woodruff of Decatur, AL, Wanda Spraggins of Douglasville, GA, Madge Willis (Dan) of Atlanta, GA, Connie Gill Williams (Myron) of Apex, NC; three uncles, Henry Frank Malone of Detroit, MI, Ray Spraggins (Mary) of Decatur, AL, Ralph Spraggins (Doris) of Rockford, IL; one great aunt, Texanna Davis of Athens, AL; four nephews, Emmitt Goode IV of Belle Mina, AL, Marcellius Jones, Fredrick Gill, Jr., Chaz Black all of Decatur, AL; two great nieces, Makayla and Makyra Jones, both of Decatur, AL; three great nephews, Isaiah Jace Goode of Toney, AL, Marion Jones and K’mari Landyn Petty both of Decatur, AL; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
