Mr. Wasko served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, then worked for U.S. Steel starting in the Donora plant and retired from the Irwin Works after 35 years. John moved to Edgewater in 1980 from Charleroi, PA.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 47 years, Elayne Volk; 5 daughters, Sheryn (Sheri) Dacko, Karyn Stihel, Cynthia (Cindy) Merchant and Jonalyn Wasko, all of Edgewater and Shannon (Robert) Mitchell of Greensburg, PA; grandchildren, Staci Iddings, Christopher Iddings, Michael and Tonya Dacko, William and John Umbel, Michael Martin, Jennifer and Robert A. Jr. Mitchell, Marc Messina, and Stephanie Le Bellot-Martinez; 6 great-grandchildren.
