John Wade Carter, 81, of Nutter Fort, WV departed this life June 1, 2011 at his residence following a bout of blood cancer. He was born in Nutter Fort on Dec. 30, 1929, a son of the late Wade Harrison Carter and Frances Regina Mazzei Carter. Surviving are his wife, Doris Garlow Carter; a son John D. Carter, of Nutter Fort; two daughters, Annette Lewis and husband, Donald of Glen Arbor, MI and Sara F. Carter, of Nutter Fort. Also surviving are his cousin and very close friend, Jack L. Carter, of Norfolk, VA and an aunt, Minnie Mazzei Patsy, of Clarksburg. Mr. Carter was a Veteran who served during the Korean Conflict. His assignments were in Intelligence and Security in Germany. He worked for PPG Industries, Pittsburgh Tube Co., and retired from Princess House, Inc. of Weston. He was a former active member and avid supporter of the Nutter Fort Volunteer Fire Department. From 1975-85 he served as Mayor of Nutter Fort, as well as several tenures on the town council. Mr. Carter was a devout believer and follower of Jesus Christ and was an active member of Bible Baptist Temple, Stonewood, WV. Mr. Carter was very dedicated to his family. He was an extremely kind and compassionate man who was well-known for his friendliness and hospitality to everyone he came into contact with. He will be deeply missed.
