John W. Thomason, 83, Anderson, died September 22, 2006, at Renaissance Rehabilitation Center-Muncie after a brief illness. He was born June 9, 1923, in Jasonville, Indiana, and resided in Anderson, Indiana. most of his life.
John worked for Associated Builders where they called him ”Sam”, and the City of Anderson, where they called him ”Pop”. He retired in 1987 and became a part-time custodian at Eastside Church of God for 7 years, where they called him ”Little Buddy”. He served his country in the US Navy from 1941 to 1946. He was on the Montgomery and Pennsylvania ships and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. John was a lifetime member of the VFW #1552. He liked gardening, fishing, and making things with his hands. He is survived by his wife whom he married on December 15, 1962: Joy Baugher Thomason. Daughter: Lani & husband Denver Lloyd of Amite, Louisiana. Cousins: Hubert & Ginny Thomason of San Diego, California. Jack Thomason of Anderson. Several half brothers, half-sisters, nieces, and nephews, including special nephews and nieces: Mike & Cindy Murry, great-nieces, great-nephews many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Gilbert L. & Elsie Mae Hubble Thomason. Two sisters and three brothers.
