John Wear Starks
John Wear Starks, known as “PJ” by his family, died from cancer on Saturday, October 4th, 2014,
at his home in Sandestin with his loving family at his side.
He had been president of Augusta Village Board for 25 years. He retired after 35 years with E.H.
Crump & Company of Memphis, Tennessee. He had been Vice President of Mortgage Banking
and Real Estate Departments there. He was also active in Mortgage Bankers Association
and Home Builders Association.
Survivors are his wife of 64 years, Helen Marie; his children, John W. Starks, Jr.(Johnny) of Memphis and
Victoria Starks Coffman(Vicki) and husband, Steve, of Knoxville, Tennessee. He dearly loved his two
granddaughters Samantha Marie Starks of Oxford, Mississippi and Kristen Drost Michalski, husband Greg,
of Oak Lawn, Illinois; his grandson Kevin Coffman, wife Heidi, of Knoxville; and four great-grandchildren,
Zoie Gabrielle Aytes, Tyler and Christopher Michalski of Oak Lawn,
and Cayden Coffman of Knoxville.
