John W. Peterson of Plymouth, died peacefully at B.I.D. Medical Center in Boston on December 5th. He is the beloved husband of Sherry Ann (Horion) Peterson. Born in Boston on April 6, 1943 son of the late John R. and Eleanor G. (Reid) Peterson. He was educated in Maine and a graduate of Deering High School in Portland class of 1962. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War as a load master from June of 1962 to January 1967. After his service in the military he graduated from the University of Southern Maine Class of 1972 with his BS in Education degree. While attending college worked as a Patrolman with the Portland Police Department, Cumberland County Sheriff and Letter Carrier for the US Postal Service in Westbrook, Maine. In 1972 he went to work for the US Government for the Secret Service as an analyst before becoming an agent in 1973 and then worked as Detective for M.I.T. in Cambridge until his retirement in 2002. A member of the Odd Fellows Lodge #30 served as Warden, Vice Grand, Noble Grand, Recording Secretary and Trustee. He received the 2014 Odd Fellowship Award.Besides his loving wife Sherry, he is survived by his son John W. Peterson of Princeton, Maine, his daughters Tara Peterson of Trenton, Maine and Misty Peterson of CA., Grandfather of Kendra, Christina, Chase, Cassandra and Jack. Also survived by his brother James Peterson of Florida.
