John W. Cassidy, 56, of Woodbridge passed away suddenly on Friday, September 30, 2022. Beloved husband of Susan (Schoonover) Cassidy, he was the son of the late John Joseph Cassidy and the late Frances (Farrell) Cassidy Macallister. He is survived by his five children Nicole Cassidy (Ellie), Delaney D’Ademo (Tommy), Matthew Cassidy, Jack Cassidy, and Samuel Cassidy.
Born in Long Island, his family moved to Milford when he was four. The youngest of five siblings, he excelled at sports, captaining the Football and Wrestling teams at Foran High School, later going on to coach there.
While sports were the love of his youth, acting became the passion of his adult years. Seen on stage at many local theaters, a few of his favorite productions included “The Lion in Winter”, “Last Train to Nibroc”, “Arsenic and Old Lace”, “All My Sons”, and “The Seafarer”.
All that being said, neither sports nor theater could compete with being a dad. His family meant everything.
He also leaves behind two brothers, Michael Cassidy and Colin Cassidy (Kim), two sisters Margaret Mary Haire (Tim), Joanne Barrett (Wynne), and numerous nieces and nephews who always found a willing playmate in their Uncle John. The list of friends and colleagues for whom his loss will be deeply felt is extensive, and his impact profound.
