John W. Bennett, 84, of Anderson, passed away on June 28, 2016, at the St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital. He was born on November 9, 1931, in Washington, Pennsylvania and resided most of his life in Anderson. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1989 from General Motors after 34 years. John was a member of Madison Park Church of God. He was a perfectionist, loved his family dearly, and cherished his wife of 61 years.
John is survived by his loving wife, Norma (Petty) Bennett; daughters, Debra (Robert) Alberts of Pendleton, Noretta (James) Downey of Aurora, CO, and Karen (Chris) Selmeyer of Seneca, SC; and blessed with five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Irene Scott ; brothers, Eugene and Ernie Marshall, and Bill Rumbaugh, and special friend, Kenny Sigler. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosetta Rumbaugh and John and Elizabeth Bennett; also two siblings, Elizabeth Somerville and Jim Marshall.
