     John “Buck” Thomas Connally, son of late Ruth P. Connally and late William L. Connally, was born on October 21, 1952. Following a period of illness, he departed this life on May 30th,2020, ascending to a place of eternal rest and peace.
     Buck was a native of Caswell County and a resident of Alamance County for most of his life. He attended the local public schools of Caswell County and graduated from Bartlett Yancey High School in 1970 as the running back with the most rushing yards in the football program’s history while wearing number 26. Before graduating in 1975 with a B.A. in History from Winston Salem State University, Buck continued his position as running back for his college football career, wearing the number 38. He was inducted into the Winston Salem State University Hall of Fame.
