On January 8, 2007, John Tate Preston III of Glen Burnie, formerly of Linthicum, passed away at home. He was 84. Devoted husband for 54 years to the late Beverly Sasser Preston; Loving father of John T. Preston IV, Karen P. Chess and Colin A. Preston; Caring brother of Howard Preston, Richard Preston, Robert Preston, Patty Bloom and Janet Feallock. Cherished grandfather of four and great-grandfather of five. He was predeceased by his siblings Mary “Bev” Pilling, Mildred Preston and Russell Preston. John served his country as a member of the United States Air Force and was awarded the distinguished Purple Heart medal. He later served as a Drill Instructor following the war. He had attended Trinity University in Texas for his undergraduate studies and Tulane University in New Orleans for his graduate studies. John worked as a Systems Analyst for the Social Security Administration for over 40 years before retiring in 1992. John enjoyed math games, reading, playing chess and art.
