Mr. John T. Colombo Sr., age 86, of Milford, beloved husband of Eleanor Gibbons Colombo, passed away on Thursday April 30, 2009, 2009 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford.
Son of the late John and Olga Boehler Colombo, he was born on October 14, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY. John was a Mechanical Engineer for the Uniroyal Tire Company. After his retirement he was a consultant in the engineering field. John was an amateur artist and was a member of the Milford Art League and had his work displayed in Milford Town Hall. He enjoyed playing tennis and ice skating and was an avid sailor. John made many excursions on Windjammers up the coast of Maine. He was a US Army Veteran serving during WWII
Besides his wife Eleanor of nearly 65 years he is survived by five children. John T. Colombo Jr. and his wife Karen of Norfolk, VA. Mary Colombo of Milford. Stephen Colombo of North Weare, NH. Michael Colombo and his wife Jennifer of Berkley, CA. Thomas Colombo and his wife Kai of Groveland, MA. Daughter-in-law Lorraine Colombo of Centereach, NY. Sister-in-law Jean Colombo of NJ. Ten Grandchildren Beth Anne, Michael, JoAnn, William, Jacob, Gia, Eva, Isabella, Ben and Sam. Four great-grandchildren Ethan, Natalie, Morgan and Mackenzie Also survived by many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his son Joseph and a brother Albin.
