John H. Stiffler, 78, of Bloomington passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010 at his residence. Born, November 16, 1931 in Elkhart, IN; he was the son of Harold and Velma (Scarlett) Stiffler. John was a letter carrier for the United States Post Office in Elkhart, and Indianapolis for 33 years. He retired in 1986. He was fireman for the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #18 in Bloomington. John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Virginia (Wampler) Stiffler of Bloomington, two sons, Michael Stiffler of Elkhart, Steve Gibbs (Mary) of Carmel, five daughters, Christy Gerber (Toby), Robin Linzy all of Union, MI; Linda Gallagher (Bill) of Greenfield, Sheila Paul (Jay) of Camby, and Terri Martin-Nichols of Indianapolis, 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert and Glenn Stiffler.
