John Steven “Steve” Wortham completed his life’s journey on earth in the early morning hours of July 4, 2017. Ironically, or maybe, coincidentally, his time on this earth ended as our country was preparing to celebrate its most cherished and patriotic holiday. Steve was a devoted veteran of The United States Air Force, having served as an avionics instrument technician. Steve attended Newnan High School and South Georgia Technical College. He had a 30-year career with International as a technical instructor. After retirement, Steve and Cheryl were able to enjoy their idyllic lifestyle on West Point Lake. Steve was born in Newnan on April 1, 1948, the son of the late John Benjamin “J.B.” Wortham and Clara Wilson Wortham. He is survived by his wife Cheryl whom he married September 1, 1968. They have a son, Scott (married to Angel) who afforded them a grandson, John Scott Wortham. Steve is also survived by his daughter, Kristi Lynn Wortham.
