Mr. John W. Smith of Fredonia, AL passed away Thursday August 7, 2014 at Arbor Springs Health & Rehab Center in Opelika.
Survivors include four children, John W. (Wanda) Smith, Jr. of Kodak, TN, Ronnie (Ginger) Smith of Fredonia, Robin (Phil) Baker of Pine Mountain, GA and Donnie (Pam) Smith) of Fredonia; 12 grandchildren, Karen (Troy) Kelley, Jason Smith, Hollie (Robert) Foster, Lera Smith, Cindy Henderson, Rachel Smith, Kristen (Chad) Hall, Rev. Eric (Kayla) Smith, Colton Smith, and Emily, Amanda, & J.R. Largent; 12 great-grandchildren; and favorite niece, Julie (Bill) Yates. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Alethia Smith, son, Lonnie Smith, and a sister, Odelle Barber.
Mr. Smith was born in Georgia and served in the US Army and the Merchant Marine. He retired from Uniroyal Tire and enjoyed fishing, attending flea markets, and was an avid Alabama Fan. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Fredonia.
