John Wright Sharpley was born on January 5, 1946 to the late LaFrance and Sallie Emerson Sharpley in Morgan County, Alabama. He departed his earthly life on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Kendrick Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lisa, step-parent, Katie S. Sharpley, three brothers; Frances E. Sharpley, Frank E. Sharpley and Earl J. Sharpley and grandson, Garcia Boyd.
John accepted Christ at his Savior at an early age at Ebenezer Church. He graduated from Morgan County Training School in Hartselle, Alabama in 1966.
He retired from General Motors located in Hamtramck, Michigan.
John is survived by two daughters; Debra Peeples of Florida and Sierra Sharpley of Michigan; two sisters, Doris S. Orr of Hartselle, AL and Calden Moye of Chesapeake, VA; four brothers, Paul H. Sharpley of Somerville, AL, Larry Sharpley of Decatur, AL, Norman Sharpley (Leatrice) of Moulton, AL, loving and devout caregiver, Billy Sharpley (Andrea) of Detroit, MI; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one aunt, Mrs. Roxie Gurley of Somerville, AL; four step-sisters, Carol, Madalyn, Sandra and Cathy Tapscott, a loving, brotherly, close friend, Lynn Summerville of Detroit, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
