John Ryan, 92, of Silver Ridge Park North section of Berkeley Twp., NJ passed away Friday, October 9, 2015, at Brandywine Assisted Living of Toms River. Born in Waterford, Ireland, he lived in Suffern, NY before moving to Berkeley Twp. 30 years ago.
John was a Union Organizer for the Transport Workers Union Local 100, New York City, retiring after 40 years. He was a US Navy WWII veteran. He enlisted on December 8, 1941, and served throughout the war. John was a parishioner of St. Joseph RC Church, Toms River, and was a member of the Silver Ridge Park North Men’s Club. He was also an avid bowler, golfer, and photographer.
He was predeceased by his wife, Madeline, on September 22, 2015.
John is survived by his daughters Carol Ryan Tucker and her husband Jeffrey of Washington Crossing, PA, Lisa Ryan Plavin and her husband Stephen of Short Hills, NJ, and Suzanne Ryan of Wall Twp., NJ, a son Stephen Ryan and his wife Lisa of Glen Echo, MD, a sister Kathleen Graham of Paramus, NJ, 10 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
