John “Ronnie” Cormier, 65 of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 after a 15 year battle with cancer. Ronnie was born on March 11, 1957 in Lafayette, LA to John and Shirley Cormier. He was raised outside of Lafayette in the small town of Milton. He was a jack of all trades, and a master of none. He spent the majority of his career as a transmission specialist and general mechanic. He also worked in road construction in Louisiana.

If you knew Ronnie, you knew his family came first. His grandchildren, Josiah, Jolene (JJ) and Jordyn were his world! He was a father figure to many. You also knew he loved to cook and he especially loved to cook for those who liked to eat! Nothing made him happier than being asked to cook for something. He was known for cooking many dishes, but everyone always talks about his stuffed pork roast, gumbo, crawfish etoufee, and potato salad. Ronnie also loved his beer, not to get drunk but he loved the taste, if he ever went to your house, he always carried his “purse” as he’d call it, his ice chest full of beer! He loved his New Orleans Saints, win or lose, unfortunately it was more losses than wins. He always said, “if they win a super-bowl I’ll die a happy man”, it took 50 years but they did it!

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Joetta (Jo) Cormier; daughter, Karen Cormier; son, Joseph Cormier; and beautiful daughter-in-law, Jennifer. He was the middle of 6 children: sisters, Maudry Granger (James), Sandra Granger (Donald) and Susan Sellers (Joseph), brothers, Wilmer (Margaret) and Jessie (Kim); numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
