A native of Marietta, Ohio, he was born on August 10, 1953 to the late Robert William McCain and Gwyneth Mary (Morganstern) McCain. He married Karen (Miller) McCain on March 16, 1973, who survives.
John was a member of Spearsville Road Church of Christ and was the Maintenance Director for Lynhurst Healthcare. John retired from the ministry of the church of Christ. John served in the Marine Corp, achieving the rank of Sergeant.
