John Robert Alley, 89, of East Brainerd died Friday, September 21, 2012 in a local hospital. A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Mr. Alley was retired from Rock Tenn Co. and was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the American Legion Post #95 and The VFW.; He was an avid builder and operator of Radio Controlled Airplanes for many years. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corp serving as a Sergeant during the Battle at Iwo Jima in World War II and participated in the occupation of Japan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bertram and Josephine Alley, sisters, Lucille Alley and Hilda Zimmerman; brothers, Arch, Bertram Jr., James Edward and Raymond Lee Alley.
