Hiltner Sr., John R.
John Richard Hiltner, 75, a loving and devoted father, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2020 with family by his side. He is survived by his four children, John “Johnny” Hiltner Jr., Holly Hiltner-Fullmer, Caroline Hiltner-Rentas, and Jay Hiltner; two sons-in-law, Drake Fullmer and Carlos Rentas; two grandchildren, Johnny and Jasmine; and sister, Barbara Kerbe. John’s children were the center of his world, and his life’s work was providing for his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Marian Hiltner (nee Drury), and father, Charles Hiltner.
He served in the U.S. Navy and in the U.S. Merchant Marine. John retired as an electrician from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Union 24. Throughout retirement, he continued working as a landlord. He loved adventure and lived an active lifestyle of scuba diving, traveling, motorcycle riding, and flying Cessna aircraft. He was a member of the Maryland Hydronauts dive club. He traveled and dived around the world. John easily made friends and will be missed a great deal by many. A special thanks to Helen Hash and Peter Goldberg for helping the family navigate the healthcare system and advocate that John receive optimal treatment.
