John R. “Bob” Myers, 73 of Centralia, passed away Friday, October 4, 2013 at Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri with his family by his side. Mr. Myers was born February 19, 1940 in Centralia, son of Monty Myers and Louise (Ingram) Myers.
He married Cheryl Heser on June 16, 1979 at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon and she survives in Centralia. In addition to his wife of 34 years, he is also survived by three children: a daughter, Lindsay (Hawthorne) Handyside and husband Jason of Decatur, a son, Rob Myers and wife Stacie of Centralia and a daughter,Robyn Stoner and husband Bill of Colorado; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Larry Myers and wife Ruth Ann of Centralia, Jerry Myers of Centralia and Paul Myers of Centralia; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, a brother Monty Myers, and 3 sisters: Betty Downen, Grace Greer and Aldenia Moran. Mr. Myers served in the United States Army. He worked at Rockwell/Cambridge as a Hoist Operator for 25 years and retired in 2000. He enjoyed antiques and sports. Most of all he loved spending time with his wife, Cheryl.
