John R. Barton age 71 of Geneva passed away Friday August 3, 2012 at Delnor-Community Hospital surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer.
He was born May 30, 1941 in Chicago, IL. the son of Leo and Esther (Elmhorst) Barton.
John was a graduate of Proviso East High School and Southern Illinois University. He was a dedicated educator at Geneva Community High School for twenty seven years. He was a former athlete, devoted coach and an avid sports enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years Valerie (Reilly); children Jeff Barton of Lisle, Scott (Mary Kay) Barton of Evanston and Lauren (Jeff) Habes-Wojcik of Chicago; grandchildren Jack and Spencer Barton and Mia and Paige Wojcik; sister Lillian (Roger) Sargent of Naperville. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
