John “Jack” Prather
John (Jack) Prather Jr., 84, passed away peacefully, at the Chariton Nursing and Rehab Center on Thursday, January 28, 2010, with his loving wife, of 54 years, by his side.
John was born to John & Bessie Prather, on the family farm, October 20, 1925.
Jack was a life long resident of Russell. He was an entrepreneur of his time; working with his brothers, they started “Prather Brothers Construction”. After retiring, Jack and Frances moved into the city limits of Russell, where, Jack enjoyed woodworking, fishing, mushroom hunting and flying.
Jack is survived by, his wife Frances, daughter, Deb (fiancAC. Greg) Myers of Des Moines and grandson, Justin of State College, Pennsylvania. Brothers, Bob Prather of Chariton and Doug Prather of Russell, Sisters, Evelyn Kent of Osceola and Mary Brown of Des Moines.
