NEW HARTFORD –John Pernal, 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 20, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Joy (Skey) Pernal for 39 years. Born February 3, 1929 in Torrington; the son of the late Paul and Sophie (Sosnowski) Pernal. John proudly served in the U.S. Army. He worked as an Engineer until retirement. He played the Trumpet for the Drum Corps for many years. He was also an avid golfer. In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, John Russell “Rusty” Pernal and wife Michelle of FL, Pamela Pernal of Avon, Sandra “Sandy” Pernal and Glenn Thomas of Canton and Robin Pernal of FL; step children, Gregory Cross and wife Lisa of Canton and Anna Buzinsky and husband Ted of Colebrook; 13 close grandchildren, Vanessa, Russell, Tares, Marinna, Sophie, Andrew, Joshua, Ky, Salena, Noah, Taylor, Jessica and Jenna; great grandson, Logan; siblings, Richard Pernal and wife Judy of AZ and Helen Pernal of Meridan; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond and Henry. He also leaves his canine family, Monty and Rupert.
