John P. Gille left this world in Denver, CO on March 2, 2014. Kind, gentle and loving, John was born in Holdenville, OK to Paul and Agnes Gille on August 25, 1927. After graduating high school as Senior Class President John headed to Oklahoma A&M for one semester before enlisting in the US Army. Due to the end of WW II he served only a short enlistment before heading back to college where he graduated with an Industrial Engineering degree. He ended up working in the oil fields of the Texas panhandle and on a weekend ski trip to Taos, NM he met the love of his life, Elwanda Simmons. They were married in Amarillo on March 22, 1958 where they embarked on a wonderful life together. Their first years were spent jumping from TX-LA-PA (where son JP was born)-OK and eventually to Los Alamitos, CA where John obtained a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Long Beach State and daughter Joy Beth rounded out the family. In 1967, they moved to Littleton, CO where they put down roots and developed deep friendships which endure to this day. John worked as an Aerospace Engineer for many years at Martin Marietta, was well known and respected in the industry, and a major player in the successful Vented Tank Resupply Experiment that flew on the Space Shuttle Endeavor in the 1990’s. John was always devoted to his family and friends, and beyond being the definition of a gentleman, was always a gentle man with a quiet presence and a smile on his face.
