John Patrick Cullen of Dumont, formerly of New Milford, was 81 when he died Sunday, September 28th surrounded by his loving family. Born in New York City, John lived in New Milford for 23 years before settling in Dumont over 9 years ago. He proudly served his Country in the United States Marine Corp from 1950 to 1952, after his discharge, John served an additional 7 years with the Marine Corp Reserves. John was a proud Union member of the United States Postal Service Branch 36 having served as a Delegate and Recording Secretary. In 1969 he was the leader of the only strike against the United States Postal Service that ultimately led to better wages for all Postal Service employees. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Dumont and the Bergenfield Elks Club.

John was the beloved husband of the late Patricia Ann (nee Tracy) Cullen, loving father of son Robert and wife Deborah Ann Cullen, son Patrick and wife Rhonda Cullen, son Michael and wife Judy Cullen, son Raymond Cullen, and his daughter Kelly Cullen Daub. He was the brother of Joseph Cullen, Edward Cullen and a sister Rose Marie Kehoe, John was predeceased by his brothers Thomas Cullen and Bernie Cullen and his sister Kathleen Burnside, he was the cherished grandfather of Krysta Cullen, Sean Cullen, Daniel Daub, and Claudia Daub.
