John P. Yeater, 87, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at his Fairmount residence. John was born August 6, 1934 in Marion, Indiana to the late Floyd and Ruth (Taylor) Yeater. He graduated from Marion High School in 1952. He enlisted in the US Navy and served in the Korean War from 1952-1956. He married the love of his life, Ercie (Story) Yeater on June 4, 1954. John retired from Indiana Bell/AT & T. John’s many hobbies included anything with music, playing guitar, singing and fishing.
He loved being on the water and boating. He was President of the Calico Sets and loved square dancing. John was a member of Mcculloch Lodge No. 737. John was also very proud of his log cabin in southern Indiana where he lived in his retirement. John is survived by four children, Curt (Debbie) Yeater, Fairmount. Robin Wilson (Jim Havens), Fairmount, Rodney (Teresa) Yeater, Marion, Jeff “Butch” Yeater, Gas City. Grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Jordan, Jericca, Jucoen, Morgan and Evan.
Also surviving are 11 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ruth Yeater, wife, Erice Yeater, brother, Paul Yeater, daughter-in-law, Tracy Yeater, grandsons, Danny and Neal Yeater, Jarynd Yeater and step grandchild Kimmy Turner.
