John P. Marione, 75 of Middletown passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022. John was born in Hudson County New Jersey of the late Paul and Carmela Marione. John is survived by his wife Ann Porskievies Marione, his daughters Christine and Jennifer, and his grandchildren Madison, Billy, Averie, and McKenzie. Also surviving are his sister Marie O’Brien and her daughters Jessica and Heather along with brother- in-law Edward Porskievies and sister-in-law Angela Porskievies, nephew Edward Porskievies, Jr. and nieces Dawn Kearns and Marissa Clifford.
John graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and a Master’s degree in Computer Science of Univ. California Berkeley. He began his career at Bell Laboratories, Holmdel in 1969. In his career of over 40 years, he made major contributions to emerging wireless technologies. He successfully navigated the changing landscape of the communications industry. John also worked at Lucent, Tellium, and Alphion, rising to the position of Vice President of Engineering. He was an expert in his field and was known for his true dedication to his work.
John was an active member of Christ Church in Middletown,, where he served on the Vestry. One of his favorite activities was leading the church’s men’s group. John also volunteered at St. Marks and a local nursing home, Brighton Gardens.
John’s presence will be missed and his absence will be felt.
