John P. Fisher, 76, of Woonsocket, RI, husband of Lilliane J. (Laprade) Fisher and the late Margaret (Shelton) Fisher passed away on Thursday, February 4th at his home. Born in Detroit, MI, he was a son of the late Harry and Hazel (Carter) Schwenker-Fisher and resided in Woonsocket, RI for the past nine years, having previously lived in Middletown, CT.
John was the Director of Transportation and Maintenance for the Middletown, CT School Department for many years until his retirement in 1993. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War.
Besides his wife, he leaves three children; John G. Fisher of East Amherst, NY; Robin Fisher of Bristol, CT and Laurie Fisher Donohue of Marlborough, NH; four stepchildren, Anne Tousignant of Burrillville; Edward Magner and Patrice Doherty, both of Woonsocket and Celeste Corriveau of Millville, MA; two brothers, Harry Fisher of Casselberry, FL, and Herman Fisher of Hopedale, MA; seven grandchildren, eleven step grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Besides his parents and first wife, he was predeceased by a brother, William Schwenker.
