Mr. Opalak was born October 6, 1933 in Waterbury, son of the late Michael and Anna (Pavlik) Opalak I. He was a graduate of Levenworth High School. He had worked in quality control and retired from Pratt and Whitney in 1994.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by two daughters Shawn Moore of Suffield, Sandra Polacheck of Plantsville a step-daughter Kathleen Sheehan-Dugan of Alaska, two stepsons, Peter Sheehan of Wolcott, Mark Sheehan of Waterbury, a brother Michael Opalak II of Georgia, a sister Mary Opalak of Waterbury, seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Olga Scholan.
