John Oliveto, 79, of Lumberport passed away September 17, 2012 at his residence. He was born February 23, 1933; son of the late Sam and Julie Varca Oliveto. John is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Carol Jones Oliveto, whom he married July 26, 1958. He is also survived by two daughters, Julie McCloy and husband Rick of Stealey; Cindy Metheny and husband Jeff of Bethel Park, PA; three granddaughters, Jennifer See and husband Bernard; Andrea Renquest both of Clarksburg; Kelsey Metheny of PA; one grandson, Levi Metheny of PA; two great grandsons, John Paul See; Benjamin See; two great granddaughters, Olivia Request; Sophia Renquest; four brothers, Pete Oliveto of Haywood; Frank Oliveto and wife Peggy; and Patsy Oliveto and wife Judy both of Moundsville; Joe Oliveto of Lumberport; four sisters, Thelma Oliveto, Katherine “Katy” Moots, Barbara Oliveto and Phyllis Hardesty all of Lumberport; numerious nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Oliveto; an infant brother; three sisters, Mary Ash; Annie Haught; Sophie Gessler. John graduated from Lumberport High School in 1953. He retired from Consol Monongah Central as a welder. He canned the best peppers and sauce for all he knew. Making beautiful pieces of artwork that included seashell Santa Clause’s and carved wooden walking sticks. He loved to meet up with the guys to play cards at the Shinnston Union Hall. At Mr Oliveto’s request, he will be cremated.
