John O. Irwin, 67, of O’Fallon, IL, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2015 at his residence. John was born on May 7, 1948 in Minneapolis, MN. He proudly served as a pilot in the United States Air Force and retired at the rank of Colonel. He later worked as a Program Manager at Computer Sciences Corporation. John was a member of the Air Force Association, and the Order of the Daedalians. He had a wonderful wit, charm, and sense of humor.
He enjoyed life; whether it was traveling and photographing amazing places around the world or watching the deer play in his own backyard. He was an adoring husband and father and his family was his world. He cheered for the Green Bay Packers, loved Airedale Terriers, and read everything from mysteries to history. John was preceded in death by his parents, John & Phyllis Irwin, nee Stacy. John is survived by his wife, Ruth Irwin, nee DeGeeter, of O’Fallon, IL; 2 children, Kelly (Benjamin) Blanchet of Little Rock AFB, AR, and Colleen (Rel) Watkins of Denver, CO; one sister, Nancy (Keith) Maxwell of Boston, MA; and two grandchildren, Keira Blanchet and Connor Blanchet.
