He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Leo and Glenys Marlene Beer and one brother, Mike Neer
He is survived by his wife, Gail Neer, of Fair Grove MO,, two children Ashley Childress and husband Kevin of Springfield and Jennifer Neer and Joe Phelps of Springfield; two grandchildren, Lili Childress and John Lucas Childress; one brother, Marvin Neer and wife Sue of Russell, IA; one sister, Beverley Justice and husband Lanny of Halfway, MO; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of family and friend,
