John Mihalakos, 73, of Hamden died peacefully on Sept. 18, 2013 in The Connecticut Hospice, Branford after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Joanna Lekas Mihalakos. Born in Pharos, Lakonias, Greece on Dec. 7, 1939, a small town in Southern Greece which he loved and where he spent his summers with his family.  He was the son of the late George & Stavroula Mihalakos. He came here from Greece with his brother, Anthony in 1955. Along with Anthony, he opened and operated Clark’s Dairy Luncheonette on Whitney Ave. in New Haven in 1962, where, for almost 50 years, they were a fixture in downtown New Haven. And, along with their brother, Costa, they opened Clark’s Pizza in 1976, which he continued to operate with his family until his death. Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Louis Mihalakos of Hamden; his daughter, Stefanie Fragias of Greece; two brothers, Anthony Mihalakos of Hamden and Costa Mihalakos of New Haven; a sister, Kiki Diamantakou in Greece; and five grandchildren, Evan, Ana, Alexandra, Sophia & Tasso; and so many friends he loved and adored. He was predeceased by his beloved son, George Mihalakos.
