John (Jay) Alexander Mazur died on August 5, 2014 in New Haven. He was born on November 2, 1947 in New Jersey but lived the majority of his life in Connecticut, Chicago, and Washington D.C. He graduated from Lehigh University and earned his law degree from George Washington University. Early in his career, he served as Vice President of Law at ESMARK. Since 1986 he was the owner of Gordon Rubber and Packing, CO. in Derby, CT. He also served as Board Chairman of the Manufacturing Alliance of Connecticut from 2003 to was predeceased in death by his father Alexander Mazur. He is survived by his mother Mary Elizabeth Mazur, wife Barbara Glynn Mazur, daughter Mary Elizabeth (M.E.) Mazur, sister Jayne Alexandra Mazur, and her daughter Sarah Elizabeth Mazur as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jay was devoted to family and loyal to his friends. He was his own person and was admired and respected by all who knew him. He was an avid golfer and skier, had a keen intellect, and was never at a loss to share his opinions with anyone who cared to listen. His passion for honesty, loyalty, and ethics is his legacy for all of us to emulate. At the time of his death, he was surrounded by his loving family. He will be dearly missed.
