John L. Matthews, Sr, 69, of Aston, PA died on November 10, 2018 John was a member of the United States Army, Company A, 307th Engineer Battalion of the 82nd Airborne Division, stationed out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He loved his country and was proud to be an army veteran. John worked as a painter for many years in Local Union 921. John was a family man who often went out of his way to help others. He was an avid Ohio State and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He enjoyed watching sports and spending time outside, especially feeding and watching the wildlife. John’s greatest joy came from being a grandad to all of his grandchildren. Husband of the late Florence “Fluff” Matthews. Son of the late Robert and Clara Jane Matthews. Survivors: Loving Dad of Jaimee (Kevin) Bartholf and John Jr (Kimberly) Matthews; Proud Grandad of Kevin, Emily, Keira, Kayla, Johnny, David, Sydney and Ryan. Brother of Edward (Marilyn) Beck; Clara Jane (Paul) Yost and Robert Matthews, III, many nieces and nephews and special friends Maria and Smoke Bartholf
