John Marshall Davis passed away at his home on Wednesday January 8, 2014.  He was born on April 22, 1929 to the late Willie Hall and Annie Ripley Davis in Arvonia, Virginia, the 2nd of 9 children.  He served his country for the United States Army as a Corporal during the Korean Conflict.  He was a retired Construction Ironworker who worked for Local Union 28.  He was a member of the Rhythm Bones Society and loved to play “dem bones” with Bluegrass Music.  He was also a member of the Buckingham Christian Fellowship, Scottsville Senior Center and Schuyler Senior Center.  He was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church of Arvonia, VA.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years Sarah G. Davis and 4 children Brenda (Rick) Rowland of Danville, VA; Thelma (Chuck) Llewellyn of Buckingham, Theresa (Tim) Bryant of Dillwyn, Johnny (Sandy) Davis of Dillwyn.  He had 10 grandchildren: Charlie Llewellyn of Powhatan, VA, Ben (Katie) Bryant of Dillwyn, VA, Thomas (Alex) Llewellyn of Buckingham, Will Bryant of Seattle, WA, Kristen Davis of Richmond, VA, Marsha Davis of Dillwyn, VA, Jackson Bryant of Dillwyn, VA, Jeannie Davis of Dillwyn, VA, Hannah Davis of Dillwyn, VA and Scarlett Davis of Dillwyn, VA.  He also had 4 great grandchildren Abigail and Eva Bryant of Dillwyn, VA and Luke and Austin Llewellyn of Buckingham, VA.

 He was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Willie, Richard and Herman.  He is survived by his sisters: Marie (JC) Parker  of New Canton, VA), Annie Mae Wharam of New Canton, VA, Shelby (Melvin) Jones of New Canton, VA and his brothers Luther (Barbara) Davis of New Canton, VA, Clarence (Agnes) Davis of New Canton, VA.   He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
