Mahony, John Francis went home to be with the Lord December 23 at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Florida. He was the third child of Joseph and Mary Mahony born on September 3 ,1950 in Glen Clove, New York. He moved from Glen Cove, New York to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1968 to pursue his education at St. Petersburg Junior College. He graduated from The University of South Florida in 2006 with two bachelor’s is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, soul mate, and best friend Susan, and children sons John (Diane), Brian (Helen), and daughter Heather; his adoring grandchildren Caden, Ava LaRue, Owen, and Luke; his sister Cathy, brother Jerry, mother-in-law, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law and nieces and nephews. John’s greatest achievement and honor was being a husband, father, and grandfather (PopPop).His career and passion for the large part of his life was as a private investigator working for law enforcement, attorneys, and the Six Judicial Circuit Court. He was a man that would help anybody at any time, and under any circumstance. He also served his country proudly in the U.S. had many loves in his life; the greatest of those being his family. His wife was the love of his life sharing in all of life’s triumphs and misfortunates and always coming out together and stronger. He was extremely proud of his three children and their significant others and the adults they had become. His greatest love was for his grandchildren and watching his children raise and nurture beautiful children. He also held a love for doughnuts, fishing, Celtic music, Ireland, The Simpsons, The Big Bang Theory, puzzles, and was a man of the Lord and often reassured everyone that he knew exactly where he was going when he passed away and that was to be with the Lord.
