Lang 1921~2018John M. Lang of age 96, of Berwyn, Pa., an insurance executive and lawyer, died July 16, . Lang was born in Passaic, New Jersey, and moved to the Philadelphia area in 1967. He graduated from John Marshall College and Law School, earning his degree in 1948. Upon his graduation, he joined the Hartford Indemnity Insurance Company, holding various executive positions within the Casualty and Fire Departments of various insurance companies from 1948 through served in the United States Army Air Force from 1942 through 1945. He completed the course for Radio Operator and control Tower and was assigned to the 8th Air Force as Senior control Tower Operator in Tibenham, England, attached to the 445th Bomb Group, 2nd Division. In May, 1945, he operated control Towers for a brief period in Casablanca and 1967, Lang came to Philadelphia as Executive Vice President of Toensmeier Adjustment Service, Inc., a leading independent adjusting company throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In 1971, he purchased the company and expanded its operation through out the six state Mid-Atlantic 1972, he formed J.M.L. Appraisal and inspection Service, Inc., a solely owned subsidiary of TAS. Lang subsequently sold both companies to his employees in December,1986, at which time he formed J.M.L. Insurance/Risk Management Co. until his retirement in . Lang was a member of various insurance and claim organizations and was elected to the membership of “Who’s Who” in insurance in 1977. He served as President of the National Theft Prevention Association, a watch-dog group assisting Police, State and Federal Authorities in reducing employee theft activities. In addition to his business activities, he was a Charter Member of the Greater Philadelphia Scholastic Golf Association, serving as Vice-President for 14 years. John was a member of Aronimink Golf Club for 1971, and was also a member of Cotton Dyke and Morgan River Golf Clubs in Dataw Island, South Carolina, where he maintained a second home.Husband of the late Eileen (nee Walsh) Lang, son of the late Elmer W. and Grace (nee Parker) Lang and brother of the late Richard Lang, Sr., Margaret Lang O.P., Joan Gillman and Betty Wehrle. Survived by his children, David Land, Douglas Lang, Caren Barnes, Jeffrey Lang and Michael Lang, 14 grandchildren and 4 Great-grandchildren.
