Mr. John Lee Martin was born August 26, 1926 in Lincolton, Georgia to the late Catherine Wright and John Martin Sr. He was confessed a hope in Christ in 1945 at Calvary Baptist Church in Plainfield New Jersey, where he served faithfully on the usher board.
He was united in marriage to Geneva Sears April 2, 1955. He was a Veteran of the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by: one brother, Ernest Martin; five sisters, Alice Jones, Mary Wright, Mammie Myers, Mildred Wescott and Bessie Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his dearly beloved wife of 58 years, Geneva Martin of Decatur, Alabama; children, Tony Martin of Plainfield NJ, Curtis Martin of Huntsville AL, Debbie Martin of Decatur, AL, Karen Martin of Morristown, New Jersey, William Martin of Brooklyn NY, Latisha Martin of Decatur AL, and Jeffrey Martin of Plainfield, NJ.; one brother, Willie Martin and two sisters; Margie Marshall, and Essie Smith all of New Jersey ; sisters-in- law, Willie Mae Stover of Decatur, AL, Annie Mae Sears of Detroit, MI, Sandy Martin of Plainfield, NJ; brothers- in- law, LC Sears, Charles Sears and Joe Nathan Sears and Ellis Marshal all of Decatur and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
