Mr. John Lee Hicks was born May 16, 1949 in Waynesville, Georgia to the late Robert and Irene Hicks. He departed this life on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at SEGHS.
He attended Waynesville School before transferring to Center High in Waycross, Georgia. Later, he would attend and graduate from Nahunta High. Everybody who knew him growing up referred to him as “Big Brother” up on the hill, he was also affectionately known as “Bobby”.
His career consisted of working at the Paper Mill in Camden County as well as a former employee at the Hercules Plant in Brunswick. John served in the United States Army until 1972 and later served in the National Guard. He later retired as a landscaper with Sea Island Company.
John’s memories will be forever cherished by his children: Torrey Hicks and Lashanda Hicks-Griffin; son-in-law: Alton Griffin Jr; grandchildren: T’Kyla Hicks, Jaylon Hicks, Ashli Hicks, Amaya Kitchen, Haven Griffin, and Makenna Griffin; siblings: David Hicks, Ilene Hicks, and Ruby Hicks-Smith and brother-in-law: James Smith. His memories will also be cherished by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
