John Lawrence Smith, Sr., age 87, of Bridgeport, WV passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Morgantown, WV. He was born June 20, 1928 in Anmoore, WV, the son of the late Alford Jason Smith and Clara E. (Carr) Smith.
John is survived by his son, John, Jr. and Kathy Smith, of Bridgeport; a great grandson, Zachary Powers, of Clarksburg, WV; a great granddaughter, Ave Powers of Carolina, WV; a sister-in-law, Hilga Kidd of Virginia; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Letha Lee “Patty” Smith whom died on December 29, 2014; and a sister- in-law, Thelma Kidd.
John was a veteran of the United States Marines Corps and served during the Korean War.
