John L. Decker, 82, of Monterey Beach, Toms River Twp., NJ, passed away Monday, August 8, 2016. Born in Morristown, NJ, his family had summered in Monterey Beach for 50 years. He would later live in Manhattan, NY and Wilton, CT before moving permanently to Monterey Beach 7 years ago.

John was a graduate of Villanova University, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in English and was a United States Marine Corp. Veteran. John was owner of the publishing firm, Decker, Decker & Associates in New York City for 20 years and was the publisher of magazines Architectural Digest and Bon Appetit Magazine. He was a member of The Union League Club and the University Club, both of Manhattan.

John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marilou (nee Healy), his three children David Decker and his wife Tracy of Old Bridge, NJ, Elizabeth Decker of Monterey Beach and Stephanie Decker of Lynchburg, VA, two brothers Donald Decker of Fort Myers, FL and Robert Decker of Chicago, IL, and three grandchildren Daniel, Kaitlin and Michael.
