JOHN L. AMMERMAN

 

John L. Ammerman, 91, of Carlisle, died Monday, November 24, 2014 at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle.

 

Born May 3, 1923 in Burnham, Pa, he was a son of the late George E. and  Llewellyn (Wildsmith) Ammerman.

 

Mr. Ammerman was a wood pattern maker by trade. He retired from the Naval Inventory Control Point, Mechanicsburg.  Earlier in his career he had been employed by the Frog, Switch and Manufacturing Co., Carlisle.

 

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European, African and Middle Eastern Campaigns.  He was awarded four Bronze Stars for his service.

 

He was preceded in death by his brother George.

 

Surviving are his wife of 46 years:  Marianne (Seidel) Ammerman; a daughter:  Michele Dombroski ( and husband Robert) of Boiling Springs; two sons:  John Ammerman of Columbia, Pa and Jeff Ammerman of Mooresville, North Carolina; eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
